Alongside their Young Songwriter Awards, Amnesty’s Young Reporter Awards ‘celebrate talented young writers reporting on a human rights issue’.

The competition is supported by playwright Tom Stoppard, who believes journalism to be an unrivalled tool to address injustice.

‘Art can change things in the longer term,’ says Stoppard,  ‘but, if you want to change the world in the short term, journalism is the most effective weapon’.

Amnesty’s Young Reporter Awards close to entrants on 17 February.
